It's November 1938, and life in Nazi Germany is quickly deteriorating. Anne Lehmann's parents no longer feel safe in their Berlin home, and to protect their daughter, they may have to say goodbye to her forever. Now Anne must struggle to bring meaning out of despair, and to cling to hope in a world that seems overrun with violence and hatred. Based on the autobiography written by Anne Lehman Fox, this gripping and poignant adaptation chronicles her escape from Nazi Germany on the Kindertransporti, a rescue mission that led nearly 10,000 Jewish children to safety throughout the British Isles. This moving story of courage, tolerance, and survival will touch the hearts and minds of people of all ages.
This performance is presented in partnership with Purdue Convocations. Recommended for children in grades 4—8.
